VOLUNTEERING

The Benefits to you

Without our volunteers, Ottery Help Scheme would simply not exist. They are the lifeblood of our organisation and we are lucky to have so many kind hearted, generous spirited individuals in the local community willing to give up their time to help others.

We provide all our volunteers with training, support and out of pocket expenses.

Our door is always open to any volunteer who has a question or concern and we always welcome feedback which may help us to improve our services. Please see Our Services for information on the types of volunteer roles available.

So what’s in it for you?

Meeting new people

Volunteering is a fantastic way to become more closely involved in your local community. It’s a great way to meet new people, learn new skills, and really feel like you’re making a difference to the lives of those around you.

LEarning a new skill

By becoming a volunteer you may learn new skills which can often lead to increased confidence, help with employment and hopefully a thirst to try new things!

Out of pocket expenses

If you incur any expenses while performing your volunteer role, we will refund them in full. With regard to any fuel costs incurred, we refund this at £0.45 per mile.

helping your community

Many of our clients are older, vulnerable and/or in ill-health – by helping us to provide, for example, our befriending service, you’re ensuring that an otherwise lonely and isolated person enjoys the company of another person on a regular basis.

All of the services we provide are necessary and vital to those who benefit from them and as such every volunteering role is equally important and equally valued.
With our services being ever more in demand, we are always looking for new volunteers.
