BEFRIENDING SERVICES
Donations are welcomed for all of our Befriending services.
HOME VISITS
We run a befriending service to help those who are looking for company and companionship.
Our volunteers are happy to visit people in their own homes and have a chat over a cup of tea. It may be that you have problems getting out and about and would just like someone to visit you in the comfort and security of your own home. If you are interested in this service, a member of Ottery Help Scheme staff will visit you in the first instance for an initial chat and you will then be matched with a volunteer who will visit you on a regular basis. |
telephone befriending
We run a telephone befriending service. If you would like to chat to one of our friendly volunteers during the day or evening, we can arrange for someone to call you at a pre-arranged time. Sometimes, just talking to another human being during the course of the day can raise spirits and help you to feel connected.
friendship groupWe also run a Friendship Group which takes place on the first Tuesday of every month at the Cricket Club, Strawberry Lane, Ottery St Mary. The session takes place between 2-4pm and all are welcome.
The activities will change from month to month and also trips out will be arranged from time to time but you can always guarantee that Friendship Group will involve tea/coffee, cakes and a friendly natter! |
Please note that if you require transport, you can book a lift through our Community Transport Scheme.
form filling
Many people find form-filling a daunting task, especially if the forms are complex. Our volunteers can help you with this task by visiting you in your own home. Often people find they need help with benefit application forms which can sometimes be lengthy.
